Servant Evangelism and Outreach

Servant Evangelism
Often the word evangelism brings to mind a dynamic person speaking to large crowds about Jesus and giving an invitation for salvation. Some evangelists do speak to large, public crowds, but the truth is there are many approaches to evangelism and many different strategies. Servant evangelism is sharing God’s love by simply serving others in practical ways without asking for or expecting anything in return.

The focus of servant evangelism is doing acts of kindness for anyone and everyone. “As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people” (Galatians 6:10). An example of servant evangelism could be something as simple as handing out free water bottles on a hot day or taking bags of food to needy families at Christmastime. The possibilities are endless, but the common denominator is that nothing is asked for in return. One of the motivations behind this type evangelism is that the Bible tells us that God’s kindness leads people to repentance (Romans 2:4).

What is Servant Evangelism?
1. Servant Evangelism reaches people for Christ by actively demonstrating God’s love and grace in practical ways. Through loving service we become the church to people who would never think of attending church.
2. Practical acts of kindness lead to meaningful relationships and open the door to share the Gospel.
3. Servant Evangelism sees evangelism as a process.
4. Servant Evangelism meets needs with no strings attached.

Why We Do Servant Evangelism?
1. We have been captured by God’s passionate love for humanity and his unquenchable fervor for seeking and saving the lost.
2. Hearing the heart of God we become willing to step outside of our comfort zone and be touched with the needs of others.
3. We deliberately choose to bring the Kingdom of God outside of the walls of our churches and into the community where it impacts the lives of men and women, boys and girls who desperately  need to experience the love of Jesus Christ

Servant evanglism is every third Saturday of the month from 10am till 12p.
